2017 Change Philanthropy Unity Summit in New Orleans
Session will explore two projects/approaches to advance power-building strategies. In our current political climate and social focus on injustice and inequities, foundations are presented with critical challenges. There is a growing need for philanthropy/grantmaking that will dismantle oppressive forces, and for foundations to stand in as an entity for change by first modeling equity and inclusion practices. This includes strategies to re-examine traditional modes of grassroots organizing. New ways of building a base of grassroots power are critical to supporting those most affected by systemic inequity to build, contest and win!
